IT servers create a lot of carbon emissions, and green hosting is an important step in dealing with climate change.
Your Silvertree Media site is hosted on servers that are both powered and cooled by renewable energy. A number of green hosts only offset the electricity used to power servers - but servers generate a LOT of heat, so the cooling porcess is very important.
All of the Silvertree Media websites are hosted on servers that are 130% wind powered! That's right, 130% - feeding energy back into the grid!
Green, certified RECs
Your website is hosted by a company that cares about the environment and has purchased local RECs for 130% of the electricity used to power and cool its servers. RECs e support the development of clean power right at the source, rather than simply paying another company to not pollute.
Green certified RECs are also important, and are verified, tracked and monitored. RECs are tradeable credits resenting all the environmental benefits of 1 megawatt hour of renewable energy. So this means that windfarms are being paid for their renewable energy that feeds into the grid, which the servers draw on.
